The A style bridge is designed in such a way that the mount screw holes are ¾" (19mm) behind the ideal scale line (the point that is twice the distance from the nut to the 12th fret).
So on a typical 34" scale bass, the ideal position for the A style bridge mount screw holes are 34¾" from the nut.
