Many Gretsch guitars use the vintage style tuners that are held in with two screws on the back and a press in bushing on the front. For these guitars, the Hipshot Vintage Tuner Upgrade Kit for 3+3 guitars is a direct retrofit. Using the UMP, no holes will need to be drilled in the instrument.
A lot of the newer Gretsch guitars use a locking tuner held in with one screw and a nut on the front. For these guitars, a regular Hipshot tuner upgrade kit will directly fit. The UMP means no holes to drill.
